Wish Bear appears in the first CG Care Bears video: Journey to Joke-a-Lot. After Funshine Bear runs away to the titular town so his practical jokes can be appreciated, he is crowned king as part of a secret plot by a rat named Sir Funnybone to steal the royal treasure, and Wish is among the bears who go on the mission to find Funshine and come to Joke-a-lot to help stop him. Asha retrieves Sabino's wish and he is overjoyed to be able to remember it, but Magnifico arrives to arrest them, having been informed that Asha was responsible for Star's summoning. Corrupted by the dark magic, Magnifico intends to use Star's magic and Rosas' wishes to increase his own powers, forcing Asha's family to flee to a nearby island, while Asha, Star, and Valentino stay behind to free the other citizens' wishes. One of Asha's friends, Simon, is revealed to be the one who sold Asha out to Magnifico in hopes of his wish to become a knight will be granted. Magnifico grants the wish, but additionally bewitches Simon into being his henchman in capturing Asha.

They first appear in The Great Race, where Funshine is one of the contestants during the annual Care-a-Lot Obstacle Race to compete to be king or queen for a day. When Mr. Beastly rigs the drawing to become a participant himself, he begins to cheat their way through the whole competition, with Funshine falling into a pit trap. Sharing is caring, and nobody knows that better than Share Bear! She truly believes in the power of generosity and the joy of sharing with others.

Funshine's belly badge appears to be emotive at some times. In Oopsy Does It! for instance, when the bears fall asleep, the smile in Funshine's belly badge falls asleep as well. The film's animation was originally intended to be fully traditional, but it was later decided to be blended with computer-animation when 2D alone had too many limitations in terms of camera movements and characterization. [23] Casting Inside the fictional world of Care-a-lot, the Care Bears embark on various zany adventures such as saving children from adversaries, protecting “the spirit of good”, teaching and practicing positive morals and values, and keeping each other safe, all while having a good time, at least for the most part. However, the new Bears abuse the power of Wish Bear's wishing star Twinkers, she accidently wishes him to the three Bears, who end up abusing to the point that Care-a-Lot begins falling apart. Whether teaching them the game’s rules or helping them out of a tough spot, Champ Bear will lend a hand and lead the team to victory.

To Surprise Bear, life is all about having fun, and he’s not afraid to let loose and let his wild side shine. In addition to the Care Bear Stare, the Care Bears also can use their tummy symbols to summon other assistance, such as heart-shaped balloons, cloud cars, rainbow bridges, and sending out a distress signal. Beginning with the early 2000's franchise re-launch, Funshine was given a more outgoing, athletic personality, but still retains the overall fun-loving spirit of the original. This thrill-seeking bear lives to seize each day, whether through extreme sports or games, and can't stand being cooped up for even a moment. In the Adventures in Care-a-Lot series, they are depicted wearing a red baseball cap as well as a masculine voice. In this series, they lost their specialty for telling jokes, and instead focus whole-heartedly on having fun. When Share Bear travels to the fabled home of Princess Starglo, said to be the one who turns baby twinklets into full-grown wishing stars, she finds it less hospitable than the stories suggest. As Starglo denies her request to help her young star friend grow, she reveals that she is dismantling her entire operation since no one believes in her anymore. While Share tries to get her to change her mind, a group of bears, including Funshine, travel to Starglo's home to look for her, and end up using a Care Bear Stare to change her outlook on the situation and make stars again.HeadStart UTM products: Funshine Bear is a playful bear who really knows how to have fun and make everyone laugh. Funshine Bear works hard to make sure others have a good time. "Enjoy each day" is Funshine's motto, and his belly badge - a smiling sun, shows it! Trivia They first appear in the episode Camp, where they travel to Earth with a small group of bears to assist two boys named Sanford and Murphy on a camping trip. The group is tasked with helping them come together despite their differences. The Care Bear Cousins have their own variant of the Stare called the Care Cousin Call. In the DiC series, the Call looks identical to the Stare in appearance. In The Care Bears Movie, the Cousins made whatever animal noise according to their species due to not possessing tummy symbols; those were given to them by Tenderheart at the end of the movie. In Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, the Call has the effect of a multicolored musical score. By the Nelvana series, the Call was no longer referred to and the cousins simply performed the Care Bear Stare.

Their belly badge gives them the power to create tangible sunbeams, which can be used to help them solve any problems they may be facing, although this method is generally only used as a last resort. Funshine Bear appears in the final Adventures in Care-a-Lot spin-off film as one of the organizers of the annual Giving Festival celebration. After a failed attempt to tow Care-a-Lot away leaves his own island floating in deep space, Funshine is among the bears who takes him home. However, his gratitude proves to be short-lived as he tries to capture them while inside his fortress, but they are able to outwit him in the end. Later, they must help rescue Princess Starglo from a cloud spirit named Windle who hates the festival and wants to stop them attending, and is able to change his attitude with a Care Bear Stare. Elena Kucharik, an artist at the American Greetings Corporation, for use on greeting cards in 1981, created the Care Bears. What is the “Care Bear Stare”? In the second CG Care Bears video, Funshine's role is smaller compared to Journey to Joke-a-Lot, mainly serving as comic relief throughout the movie. Throughout the Care-a-lot steering committee meetings, he uses a squeaky hammer to provide laughs in a serious matter. Whether she’s lifting weights or lifting spirits, Lotsa Heart Elephant always puts her heart into everything she does, and reminds us that with determination and hard work, anything is possible! Care Bear Cousins

Funshine Bear is one of the playable characters in the 2005 Game Boy Advance video game Care Bears: Care Quest during the minigame "Hide-and-Seek", where they must look for other bears who are hiding behind clouds. Like the previous eras, Funshine is one of the "Core Six" along with Tenderheart, Cheer, Share, Grumpy, and Harmony. This era changes Funshine to look similar to their original 2002 look, but their belly badge is changed slightly to have twice as many rays, slightly larger eyes and cheeks, and the mouth is open and full instead of sideways. There is also twice as many rays.
