On 20 July the PJ asked the National Policing Improvements Agency for ‘advisory assistance’. A Serious Organised Crime Officer, Jose de Freitas, who was bilingual, came over to Portugal to help with the enquiry. “We found out later (much later) that the UK team had been instructed by the PJ to proceed on the basis that Madeleine had been killed and her body dumped”. Except that according to all her statements and now confirmed in the book Gerry did NOT make the visit he said he did. Otherwise it would be impossible for Kate to say that the door was open wider than "When WE had left it". The decision to publish this book has been very difficult, and taken with heavy hearts ... My reason for writing it is simple: to give an account of the truth ... Writing this memoir has entailed recording some very personal, intimate and emotional aspects of our lives. Sharing these with strangers does not come easily to me, but if I hadn't done so I would not have felt the book gave as full a picture as it is possible for me to give. As with every action we have taken over the last five years, it ultimately boils down to whether what we are doing could help us to find Madeleine. When the answer to that question is yes, or even possibly, our family can cope with anything ... Nothing is more important to us than finding our little girl.' -- Kate McCann The couple, who met in 1993 in Glasgow and married five years later, have had to find a way to put one foot in front of the other for the sake of their twins, Amelie and Sean, now 18. Kate and Gerry, who still live in Rothley, Leicestershire, are devout Catholics, however Kate admitted her faith has been put to the test amid the trauma their family has faced.

If the public believed that we were involved in her disappearance, then people would not be alert for possible clues and may not report relevant information to the relevant law enforcement agencies. The focus is now rightly on the search for Madeleine and her abductor(s).” After reading this book, I gave more credibility to the notion that my case may well have affected theirs, and not just the other way around, such is the detail in the time-line. Double standard with respect to maintaining case secrecy. They kept secret those facts that implied PJ's incompetence, but leaked to the press any little detail that could be used, after careful twisting, against Kate and Gerry. Dinner at Ricardo Paiva’s house: “…it was a good evening, though I found it hard to allow myself to really relax and enjoy it. Ricardo made us a great martini and his wife had prepared a fantastic meal”.Dr Kate: “Maternal guilt often weighed heavily on my shoulders…I was so engulfed by Madeleine that I worried I might not have enough love left over for Sean and Amelie. Something else to beat myself up about”. I was snatched at birth and brought up by another family - the man who raised me walked me down the aisle at my wedding alongside my biological dad I have been doubtful of the McCanns version of events from the outset, throughout recent history most (not all) crimes of this nature are committed by someone close to the family or by a family member. There are a lot of anomalies in this 'true' account of the events leading up to this strange disappearance and although it is a very heartbreaking story without doubt, these anomalies make it hard to know what is the truth. Several of the instances in this book do not match up with statements the McCanns and their mates gave to the Police. The timelines and other little details are all off - I'll add some at the end of this review - but that makes me think that this book wasn't written with Madeleine in mind at all, but with the intent of making her parents look good. In fact, there are many more pictures of Kate and Gerry in here than there are of Madeleine. It began to yield results in 2013, with Scotland Yard formally announcing a new investigation in July and saying in October it had identified 41 potential suspects. That same month, BBC Crimewatch released an e-fit image of a man of particular interest who had been seen in Praia da Luz with a child matching Madeleine’s description in May 2007.

In 2007, Madeleine disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, in Portugal’s Algarve, triggering a huge missing person investigation. During questioning, Gerry and Kate McCann were named as formal suspects or “ arguidos”. Dr Kate was ‘terrified’ flying in a small ‘pre-war propeller plane’ because the jet for Morocco had broken down.

Alex Woofall told them all not to talk to any reporter because ‘there was nothing to be gained’ by doing so. That led to the ‘Pact of Silence’ story which Dr Kate says was the first negative story about them. She complains that someone had given all their friends their mobile ’phone numbers, Dr Kate says it could only be someone in the PJ. The three-year-old's harrowing disappearance has haunted the world since, and while German authorities believe the young girl was murdered by a drifter with a history of sexual violence, without concrete answers, Kate and Gerry cling to a glimmer of hope she could still be alive. There really is no excuse. Can't believe the number of morons supporting these parents. They may not have sold their kid, or drugged her, or been directly responsible for her disappearance, but they left their toddlers alone; And just the response itself - they refused to cooperate, sued detectives who actually wanted to get to the bottom of this case (their ties to Clement Freud, for one, which have been swept under the rug by the MSM coverage of these cases), and seem like absolute narcissists, overall. The fact that they aren't being prosecuted just shows how privileged these people are, just by virtue of being doctors - if they had been normal, working or middle class people, they would have both been prosecuted and charged. I will try and post a 'summary of critique' of each chapter of Dr Kate's book over the next few days.
