He was delighted with everything we suggested, but then his daughters scrutinised our proposal – and they’re not as forgiving as James!

The size of the scoring board is responsible for the box size, but the excess cardboard padding could have been easily replaced with more question cards to boost the longevity of the game (more on that later). As our group played, it became clear that some of the cards are very subjective in their wording (“Does mixing drinks get you drunk faster? Every week, James O\'Brien enlists the help of LBC listeners to solve the questions you\'ve always wondered the answer to. Sometimes simple, sometimes intelligent, but almost always entertaining, probably the best hour of radio you could ever download! It was actually Stephen that introduced us to James O’Brien, and it was coincidental that our team are all avid listeners to his LBC radio show, enjoying The Mystery Hour every Thursday at 12.For a start, all of the question cards could be quite easily distributed before dinner to allow players to invent clever false answers in good time. The objective is to get the other players to believe your own false answers to gain maximum points, while answering questions correctly yourself. This makes committing to answers for 3 points not as high stakes as it seems - a big payoff, but little to lose by sticking your head above the parapet.

Our group of three were keen not to let these early setbacks dampen our expectations of the game, and we were subsequently pleased with the quick set up and speedy explanation of the rules.
