Description

If anyone remembers it, Creme Egg Twisted was actually a bar version of Cadbury Creme Egg that was brought out a few years go, and previous to that is was Dairy Milk with Creme Egg. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we put on your computer with your knowledge and consent. Turns out that packaging was very misleading because nothing could prepare me for the horror that was lurking inside. Easter Egg Manufacturers have cut down on packaging in a bid to become greener and use packaging that is easier to recycle.

The bar is maybe 1/2 in diameter and about as long as a Twix bar is, with thick ridges (“twists”) running all along the bar. I like the mini Cadbury Creme Eggs because they have a little bit better ratio of chocolate to filling for my tastes, but I recently got to try a Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted, which was even better. The campaign featured various vignettes of a Creme Egg being destroyed by household implements – such as a kitchen blender or hairdryer – only to mutate into an anthropomorphised Twisted bar, which shouted ‘Goo! Despite having kept my hands clean while eating it out of the wrapper, the experience just wan't the same as a real Cadbury Creme Egg, and I don't think I enjoyed it nearly as much. These are apparently popular in other parts of the word so maybe not as weird as they may seem to us Brits. seems to be that despite it still retaining the great creme egg taste its a little disappointing considering this is what Cadbury’s deem as their ‘most exciting innovation of the year’…. Ingredients: Milk, sugar, cocoa butter, glucose syrup, glucose fructose syrup, whey powder, cocoa mass, vegetable fats, emulsifiers, humectant, colour, flavourings.

If you've sorely missed Cadbury Dream White Chocolate since it was withdrawn from UK shelves many years ago, fear not, it's going to be back for Summer, albeit in a colder form - yes, ice cream! There are lots of other goodies that are similar but I don’t think they could possibly be as good as these would be. It’s a hollow log of their classic milk chocolate that is filled up with a yellow and white creme egg center. A similar, limited-edition 180g Dairy Milk bar filled with Creme Egg fondant hit the Australasian market in 2019, but didn’t reach UK supermarkets. The creamy, milky taste of the chocolate, even though it is on the sweeter side, is a great contrast to the sugary filling and balances it out without dominating it.

Because there’s no clear definition between the chunks, you get more of it than you did in the old Dairy Milk bar. This sounded like a good idea to me, as it might allow the great fun of eating a Creme Egg without the messiness. Obviously designed to look like it’s been twisted, the chocolate has a thick base, while the top is made of thinner chocolate and vaguely resembles a screw thread. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Like regular Creme Eggs, these aren't made with Dairy Milk chocolate but are vegetarian friendly, described as "Milk chocolates with a soft fondant centre (40%)". However, excitement for Twisted waned over time, leading to Cadbury’s decision to withdraw the product four years later.

This slightly freakish little bar of fun shows that Cadbury do still have what it takes to come up with something a little more interesting, even though strictly speaking nothing here is new. If it does signal the start of a move away from the Dairy Milk branding, than that will give them much more flexibility in the future. However, in 2020 it was revealed that Creme Eggs don't just taste sweet – they're stuffed to the hilt with sugar. It was overkill in fact, and lacking the charm of a regular Creme Egg which is satisfying to bite into. We track calories and 7 key nutrients - carbs, sugar, fibre, protein, fat, saturated fat and sodium.Even though this bar is probably not going to be widely available – if at all – in the US this Easter season, I can’t resist mentioning it just because of the tradition of creme eggs around the holiday. They mysteriously disappeared, to reappear as a mini version in Cadbury Heroes, and have now been given their very own sharing bag. Yes, true to style my first review of the year is in stark contrast to all the festive goodies of the last few weeks, and is Easter-themed.
